A friend of mine once pointed out that he wasn’t quite sure when government changed from bottom up to top down. This summary has stuck with me because of its beautiful analogy to life’s shortcomings. For when things are bleak, it is comforting to know that things are not as they should be.
Not a one of us set out to be lackluster in life, or to fall short of our expectations. Yet when it happens we often find ourselves contemplating the reasons and trying to figure out why it didn’t turn out as it should have.
I currently find myself wondering what happened to the Republicans and applying this shortcoming analogy. How can my party be the ones protesting American soldier’s funerals with “God hates fags” signs? How can some CEO’s justify their gigantic salaries and multi-million dollar severance packages when under their leadership the company did nothing but suffer? How is it that “activist judges” get some things right? These and so many more questions finally cumulated into the realization that describing the Republicans as lackluster would require some pretty lenient judgment.
Hence, it is time to explore these questions and try to identify the cancers that have deformed our Party from what it should be. One thing for certain is these cancers have become much worse as of late, thus it is a new development and deserving of the prefix neo-. Since the goal is to excise these neo-tumors from the body of Republicanism, the term neo-Repubectomy is thus coined.
